Module 3: Reflection of Learning
For Module 3, I had the opportunity to explore three unique pieces of technology including Storybird, Co-Spaces EDU and Clips. In this blog I will highlight each technology and explain how I plan to use it within my classroom.
What is Storybird?
Storybird is a website that allows students to create writing pieces with beautiful artwork. Students choose to create a picture book, long from story, comic, flash fiction or poetry. After, students select a gallery of artwork they would like to use for their writing piece. Then students use a generated selection of artwork to develop their writing piece. Students can only use the artwork that has been generated for them and cannot search for other pictures. A template makes it easy for students to add pages to the writing pieces they created and change the positioning of the picture and text on each page.
How I plan to use it within my classroom?
-an option for free write (the artwork supports students with generating new ideas and Storybird also offers different writing challenges that students can choose from)
-An option for students to publish their writing
-To publish poems during our poetry unit
What is Co-Spaces EDU?
Co-Spaces EDU is a website that allows students to create 3D environments or 360 degree images that can be viewed with virtual reality tools such as the MergeCube and VR glasses. Students have access to a large library of backgrounds and items to create a space. Students can manipulate objects easily and code them to interact within the space. When students are done creating their space they can view their co-space using VR technology.
How I plan to use it within my classroom?
-to create habitats and human body systems
-interactive stories
-interactive timelines
-to create "All About Me" museums
What is Clips?
Clips is an app that allows students to capture a variety of images or video recordings to create a video. It is very accessible and allows students to adjust and move clips easily, as well as add text to video recordings or images.
How do I plan to use Clips within my classroom?
- Within math instruction so students can demonstrate their understanding in multiple ways.
-Positive comments-students can each have a video with positive comments from their classmates
