Module 5: Final Reflections

 My Personal Growth Plan

I plan to use my personal growth plan as my goals for my Annual Professional Growth Plan for 2021-2022. I am excited to continue my learning and I am hoping to attend technology conferences to learn more! Some conferences that have caught my eye are as follows: EdTechWorld Form 2021-Virtual Conference and the Future of Education Technology Conference. As I stated in my professional growth plan that I would also be interested in the future completing my Masters in Educational Technology. I discover that the University of British Columbia offers the masters program online. I would be interested in taking this after I finish my Masters of Inclusive Education. I have found while completing this masters I am really passionate about educational technology and am excited to continue my learning! I have also discover serval virtual coding sessions for teachers offered by Canada Learning Coding and am planning on signing up for the following sessions: Scratch for Educators, HMTL and CSCC for educators, and Envisioning Canada in VR.

                                            Module 4: Curriculum Integration Assignment

I am very excited to deliver this PD on writing instruction! I have learned a lot from completing this assignment. In particular I have learned more about the past decisions of the NS government and how the decisions from the action plan they had in 2015 has shaped what we are seeing in the curriculum. I have a new lens to the curriculum. I am now looking at what digital tools I can use to meet indicators and how I can start developing resource deposits for each indicator. This would obviously be a big task so I am thinking of ways I can collaborate with colleagues to do so.  It would be nice if there was a project to hyperlink tech tools or ideas for each indicator within the curriculum for each grades. However, I am going to start working on this for the grade levels I teach.

My Take Aways from the Course

  • As a classroom teacher in the 21st century I need to be culturally responsive to the learners I have in front of me to prepare them for the future
  • Collaboration with colleagues and engaging in professional dialogue is imperative to building your repertoire of teaching strategies, resources and overall pedagogy
  • Allow yourself time to explore technological tools so you can bring more to your classrooms. Think about unique ways on how to use tech tools and provide options for your students.
  • My passion for educational technology has grown from completing this course, as a life long learner I cannot wait to develop my understanding for education technology further whether it is through professional development or completing my Masters in Educational Technology!
